Kagumo High School is an exciting and enjoyable place to learn and grow. Through the use of cutting-edge technology and proven best instructional practices, our students and staff combine real world applications with complex and multifaceted challenges to develop skills that will equip our students for success in a rapidly changing global economy. We continue to work in partnership with families and the community in providing our students with the very best high school experience.
Kagumo takes pride its excellent track record in academics. The last three years provides a testimony of Kagumo as the power house of knowledge in the region. Last year almost 80 percent of our 2015 candidates booked a place in public universities through regular programme. Indeed Kagumo’s tradition of contributing the largest number of students who join institutions of higher learning stands unrivaled in the entire Nyeri County.
Discipline is a desirable quality in any human being. As educationists, we do not only concentrate on academics, but we vigorously pursue discipline as an integral aspect of character shaping. The school administration has not relented in its efforts to check the excesses of erring students and to commend the good behavior of the disciplined ones. It is our conviction that a student who has respect for his peers will be more receptive to authority and learning.
Being a boarding school, co-curricular activities play a huge part in the day-to-day involvement of our boys. To this end, there is no shortage of activities into which the students can throw themselves into. Some of these activities are mandated by the school and so time is allotted to the completion of these activities. Community work (not so popularly referred to as Comm work) is designed to empower the student to take charge of maintaining his surroundings, basically janitorial duties performed at early morning hours and extended hours of weekend mornings, except Sunday. Students also participate in drama activities. There are intramural (between houses) competitions in drama, music, science and all manner of sports that are taken very seriously and it is from these contests that school representatives are selected to compete externally. Our sports teams are legendary. We are glad to have earned multiple county and regional championships in events.
I am very proud of our simply in the halls, I sense their genuine desire to learn and give back to their school and others. They are guided on their high-school path by an incredibly professional and caring teachers and dedicated student’s accomplishments—when I see them in the classroom, on the stage, playing sports, or team of non-teaching staff. We are gratified with our accomplishments, but we look forward to the future as we continue to stretch ourselves and our students to learn new things and reach new heights.
